First off my name is Nicole and I'm 20 years old. My specialty breed would be Bernese Mountain Dogs, but I also have a passion for Golden Retrievers. Swiss Gold is a newer kennel (Est. 2011). We are new to the show world but not to the world of dogs. I have loved dogs, specifically Goldens and Berners, since I was child.I met my first golden when I was 9 years old, and from that day on I told my self I would own a Golden. Little did I know I would end up with three that are my whole world. Gracie was the first dog that I could call mine. She came home in 2005, she taught me so much about training, responsibility, grooming, and most of all love. Ever since then I have studied and researched the Golden Retriever breed. I have read multiple books and websites to learn about the correct conformation, temperament, and movement. In 2007 when I took Gracie to a training class, the owner had four Bernese Mountain Dogs.I had never even heard of them, but they were the most regal and gorgeous dogs I had ever seen, they even had the temperament to follow, I guess you can say i fell head over heels with the breed. After meeting them I researched the breeds for years before getting one of my very own. Brody my tri-colored lover boy came home in 2011 and after owning him for only one year I have truly fallen so in love with this breed. So I decided to add one more addtion to our pack a female Berner off of Tanner x Fiona, Mad Maple's My Girl "Vada" came on on Dec.18th 2011, The day my dreams came true! She will be my first show dog and foundation to the breeding program of Swiss Gold! Vada is such a smart puppy and has been a star since day one! We have a lot of work ahead of us, but its a learning experience for us both! They truly are love in three colors.<3 After many years of watching dog shows on tv and being glamorized by the life style of the people handling the dogs, I knew since the first time I watched a dog show that, that is something I wanted to do. Little did I know that it would be so addictive and become my whole world! In April of 2011 I decided to attend my first ever dog show (Wilimington Kennel Club Show) I was hooked from that day foward. I showed in my very first show with Fredrick's Litle Bear "Brody" he took second in his class, then in november I handled a friend Siberian Husky and she took first in her class and reserve bitch. I am hoping to have more success with my bitch Mad Maple's My Girl "Vada" as the year continues, I look foward to a adventures in the show world!
Even though I am new to the show world, I've found that I already revolve almost every aspect of my life around dog shows. I love it more than anything and it is truly my passion! I am so grateful I have finally found a sport I enjoy. The feeling of being handed that first place ribbon is one greatest feelings in the world. Being able to watch my dogs improve, and being able to see good dogs become great dogs is such a thrill. I still have a lot to learn and experience to gain, but I would be nothing with out the support of my friends, family, and my mentors, Martha Phelps and Dawn Cox. I would like to give a huge thanks to those people for the support they give me and my dogs 100% of the time. ![]() |
